CHRISTMAS FAIR “ALL THINGS MAINE”

Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00am – 1:00p.m.

We will have Coastal Creations, Holiday Greens, Mainely Crafts, Knit Korner, Cookie Walk, an Ornament Tree as well as a Lobster Roll Luncheon and much more!

ADVENT SEASON WORSHIP ACTIVITIES

On December 14th, during the Sunday morning worship service, the Sunday School children of our church will be performing their annual Christmas pageant.  This will be a great opportunity for those who haven’t had the chance to see our Christmas pageant in the past do so in a worship setting.

On December 21st, during the Sunday morning worship service, a Christmas cantata will be performed.  It is called Festival of Lessons and Carols, and it promises to be a wonderful and uplifting blend of the Christmas story and beloved Christmas carols.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES

The First Congregational Church of Scarborough will be having three Christmas Eve services this year to make more opportunities available to attend worship and celebrate Christ’s birth.

  1. The Christian Education Committee will be leading a 4 p.m. service in which many of our children will participate.
  2. Next, there will be a family-oriented intergenerational service at 7 p.m.
  3. Finally, we will have a traditional candlelight service at 11 p.m.

We hope you will join us for one or more of these services as we celebrate the Good News of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

APPROACHING THE MANGER: A SELECTION OF POEMS FOR THIS LOVELIEST OF SEASONS

On Sunday December 21st, from approximately 11 a.m. to noon in our church vestry, J. Barrie Shepherd, a well-known pastor, author and poet, will once again be reading selected Christmas poems that he has written and published in past years.  After the reading, books will be available to purchase and be signed by him, with all proceeds beyond cost going to the Scarborough Food Pantry.

 J. Barrie Shepherd is a resident of Piper Shores and a regular attender at our church.  He has published 15 books and over 600 poems.  He is a retired Presbyterian pastor, and Minister Emeritus of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York—the “mother church” of New York Presbyterianism.

E-WASTE RECYCLE EVENT

Thanks to all that supported our church's annual community E-Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, May 17
