Life’s Soundtrack

Have you ever been sitting by a quiet lake and realized there was no sound?  Not a bird. Not the breeze.  Not a voice. I find this silence to be both peaceful and disturbing.  I am not accustomed to the absence of sound.  Even during movies, the viewer is constantly presented with sound.  Scenes have background music even while characters are having normal conversations.  I often wonder if my students have a running “soundtrack” in their heads as they are presented with so much sound media in their lives.  Which has caused me to consider my own “life soundtrack.” Does it reflect who I really am?

What does your life soundtrack include?  Is it a mis-matched group of songs with much diversity?  Is it loud and distracting? Is it relaxing and supportive?  One of my personal goals this year is to pay close attention to my soundtrack that it might be reflective of the Holy Spirit living within me.  How about you?

Soli Deo Gloria,
